Basic IR SE/ME             [ MORE INFO ]

Orbifly is approved for Basic IR training on both single and multi-engine aircraft (BIR SE and ME).

Are you interested in the BIR, this lighter IR qualification offered by EASA, but you are not sure you understand what it is?

This little video will help you better understand what it’s about!

If you already passed a theoretical BIR, IR, EIR or ATPL (even expired), we can directly start the BIR practical training with you!

Do you need to pass the theory first?
We can also support you with our partners! Read on...

Ready to get started? Groundschool first !

Do you need to pass the theory first? No problem!
Orbifly has established two partnerships, depending on whether you wish to follow the theoretical BIR training in French or in English!

To take the BIR in French: To take the BIR in English:

Theory in hand ? Let's fly !

✈ Training prerequisites :

You can enter training as long as you have at least a PPL or CPL license.

✈ What are the privileges of the BIR?

The BIR will allow you to fly under IFR as pilot-in-command, on a non-profit basis, on single-engine and/or multi-engine aircraft excluding high-performance aircraft (non-HPA aircraft).

Specific weather minimums will apply on departure and arrival, and your operational minimums will be raised.

✈ EASA BIR practical training :

BIR training is competency-based training, like CB-IR. The program and volume of training are similar to those of IR training, but it differs mainly by a modular structure which gives it even greater flexibility.

Organized into 3 modules for the single-engine BIR, it is supplemented by a 4th module to obtain a multi-engine BIR:
Module 1 : Basic instrument flying
Module 2 : Departure, approach and holding procedures
Module 3 : En Route IFR Procedures
Module 4 (optional) : IFR flight on a multi-engine aircraft

Module 1 must be completed first. The following modules can then be completed in any free order.

Each module is validated by an end-of-module assessment within the ATO.
Once all the modules have been completed, a final evaluation, in the form of a mock test, ensures that the candidate is ready to take the BIR practical test with an examiner.

✈ Program of the training :

Orbifly specializes in intensive training.
The quickest and most effective formula consists of following the training according to an intensive program in blocks of 5 days, over a maximum period of 2 to 3 months, test included.

The overall training duration of course depends on the initial level and progress of each student, as well as any past experience. We will study your case with you.

✈ Your training on your own aircraft?

Why be trained on another aircraft, if you then plan to practice IFR on yours?
With this belief in mind, we are advocates of training owners on their own machines whenever possible.

On request, we can integrate your aircraft into the ATO fleet during your training. You will be operational as soon as you qualify!
Part of your training may even take place in your sector, if suitable for IFR training.

You don't have a aircraft?
No problem, we have partner planes.

✈ Do you use an iPad in flight?

Note that we have negotiated an unbeatable price for one year from Foreflight + Jeppesen, in order to reduce the cost of your training.
Contact us prior to subscribing, in order to benefit from our negotiated rates.
